In 2013 Capital Coaching will be launching two international training pathway camps for academy players. Both camps will be a 3 day training programme in Australia. This would allow the development of trans – Tasman training academies and a clear pathway into Australasian tournaments, further facilitating relationships internationally and sharing overseas best practice here in New Zealand.
Sydney
In May we will be targeting Sydney, where Andy and Dave will take away 6-8 top academy players to train with top Australian coaches and experts in tennis including ex touring pros such as:
- John Marks, Former tour professional World ranking 63, – Runner-up Australian Open 1978 and Former National Director of Coach Education in Australia&
- Dave Bailey who has worked with 10 Top 100 ATPP/WTA players and different Tennis Grand Slam professional players including Monica Seles, Jelena Dokic, Vince Spadea and is an expert in biomechanical concepts to contact moves and footwork movement& and
- Angelo Castiglione expert in strength and conditioning.
Melbourne
In September we will be targeting Melbourne, organising daily academy training sessions with other juniors from several Melbourne Clubs, including those with Clay court facilities. Juniors will also take a VIP tour of the Australian Open Grounds and we will aim to meet Craig Tiley, the Tournament Director of the Australian Open. This trip will provide all juniors with an opportunity not only to train on different surfaces and against trans – Tasman juniors, but also to get a feel for what is involved and required by players at Grand Slams, and of course to train hard across the tasman.
